Part 1: Procedures, Progression and Milestones
Description: This session will cover important procedures, including:

  • Confirmation of Research Commencement date and calculations that relate to that date
  • Variations of Candidature (including supervision, thesis topic and leave of absence)
  • Extensions to candidature (specifically the strict circumstances where these are allowed)
  • Supervision matters and what to do if things go wrong
  • Who to talk to at your School/Institute

It will also cover the expected timeline for a candidature, including compulsory milestones:

  • Online induction training
  • Early Candidature Plan
  • HDR Candidate – Supervisor Compact
  • Confirmation of Candidature
  • Annual Progress Reports

 

Part 2: GCREDI

Facilitators: Program coordinator (Anna Denejkina)

Description: This session will discuss the Graduate Certificate in Researcher Engagement, Development and Impact (GCREDI) and how it provides a scaffolded training program linked to key candidature milestones.
 

Part 3: Scholarships

Facilitators: Scholarships Officer (Vanessa Smyth)

Description: This session will discuss important information for scholarship recipients, with a specific focus on Q&A. The topics to be covered include:

  • Understanding the terms and conditions of a scholarship
  • Scholarship payments
  • Allowances and entitlements (such as sick leave and annual leave)
  • Taking a leave of absence and suspending a scholarship
  • What happens at the end of a scholarship
